Westurn Engineering is a well-established CNC machining business with a team of 26 and a reputation for quality and reliability across the mining, defence, agriculture, automotive, and marine sectors. We’ve recently moved into a brand-new, purpose-built facility in Stake Hill, just off the freeway near Mandurah, and continue to invest in state-of-the-art equipment to support our growing client base.
With 15 CNC machines (including Okuma 3 & 4 axis mills and lathes, plus Fanuc EDM wire cutting), we offer a clean, modern workshop and a great culture — over half our team has been with us for more than 5 years and many over a decade.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for a CNC Machinist (First Class) to join our skilled team. This is a full-time, permanent position on a rotating roster:
- 9 weeks days: Monday to Friday, 7am–3:30pm
- 3 weeks nights: Monday to Thursday, 4:30pm–3am
The role includes:
- Programming and operating Okuma CNC machines (Fanuc-based control)
- Machining steel, stainless, aluminium, and some plastics (Acetal/Nylon)
- Producing a mix of high-volume production and one-off parts
- Performing quality checks on your own and others’ work
- Occasionally assisting with mechanical assembly or fitting tasks
ABOUT YOU
We’re looking for someone with strong practical skills, a focus on quality, and a proactive attitude. You’ll ideally have:
- A Certificate IV in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (or equivalent)
- 2+ years post-trade experience in CNC machining
- Experience with CAM programming (SolidCAM preferred)
- Proficiency in CNC programming, setup, and operation (Fanuc experience a plus)
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Full Australian working rights
