Goldsmith is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Serviceperson to join our team maintaining our fleet of heavy civil construction and environmental project machinery. This hands-on role involves routine servicing, lubrication, and basic checks on mobile and fixed plant equipment, while providing direct support to our diesel fitters and maintenance crew on site.
About the Role
Your initial responsibilities will include:
- Perform daily/regular greasing and lubrication of machinery components (pins, bushes, bearings, etc.) across excavators, loaders, dozers, trucks, rollers, and other civil plant.
- Conduct basic inspections, fluid level checks (oil, coolant, hydraulic), top-ups, and minor adjustments to ensure equipment is ready for safe operation.
- Assist diesel fitters with scheduled servicing, filter changes, component inspections, basic repairs, and breakdown support as required.
- Refuel plant and equipment safely and efficiently, including recording usage where needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of work areas, tools, and equipment; ensure spill prevention and environmental compliance on site.
- Report any defects, wear, or safety concerns immediately to supervisors or fitters.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and site-specific inductions (including SWMS, Take 5s, and lockout/tagout).
- Participate in toolbox talks, pre-start checks, and ongoing training to maintain high safety and performance standards
- Promote Goldsmith values and culture within the team.
Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in a serviceperson, plant greaser, maintenance assistant, or similar hands-on role in construction, civil, mining, or heavy industry preferred
- Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of heavy machinery components.
- Strong focus on safety and ability to work safely in a high-risk environment.
- Reliable, physically fit, and able to work outdoors in varying conditions.
- White Card (Construction Induction) essential; HR driver’s licence highly desirable.
- Forklift, EWP, or other tickets advantageous but not required.
- Team player with good communication skills and a positive attitude.
