The Purpose of The Willaneen is to provide short term crisis accommodation for women and children who are escaping Family Violence. This position is to provide an accommodation service which is accessible to women and children escaping family violence which offers equal support to women regardless of age, race, culture, sexual preference, class, and ability which is supportive of the individual needs of women and her children.

To ensure the safety and security of residents residing at the refuge.

Rostered hours per week with a minimum of 15 hours on a 6 week rotating roster – including evenings and weekends.

Shifts being from 4.30pm – 8.30am for sleep over or evening shift being from 2pm to 10pm.

Position Purpose

To ensure the safety and security of residents residing at the refuge.

Key Selection Criteria 

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Aboriginal culture with the ability to liaise with and support the local Community.
  •         Experience in Microsoft Office computer packages.
  •      Ability to access and provide case management to address key areas of the clients needs.
  •         Deliver support services to people who experiences domestic or family violence.
  •       Experience in casework with women and children from diverse backgrounds who have experienced family violence.
  •          Demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively with the capacity to negotiate and liaise with other agencies and the community.
  •         Ability to communicate information in a clear, concise, respectful, and culturally appropriate manner.
  •          Demonstrated experience engaging and working with families that have child protection involvement.
  •       Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.

Qualifications and Registrations Requirement (Essential or Desirable).      Valid Victorian driver’s licence    ESSENTIAL

Meets the Mandatory Minimum Qualifications (MMQ) for Family Violence Practitioners in line with meeting recommendation 209 for specialist family violence roles    ESSENTIAL     

A satisfactory Working with Children Check and Fit2Work Police Check    ESSENTIAL

A person of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander background    DESIRABLE Proof of COVID-19 vaccinated to align with GEGAC requirements    ESSENTIAL
