About the Role 

Based in Melbourne, this senior role combines hands-on delivery with client facing leadership, including presenting, proposal writing and relationship management.  

You will bring advanced market research and analytical capability, with working knowledge of statistical techniques, campaign effectiveness, segmentation and strategic storytelling. Central to the role is the ability to partner closely with analysts to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations, and to communicate these confidently and meaningfully to senior clients. 

About You 

This is a fast-moving environment that demands agility, adaptability, and the confidence to shift gears quickly. You’ll combine strong all-round research skills with presentation and storytelling ability, translating evidence into insights that inspire action and drive impact across the industry. We are looking for a qualified researcher with: 

  • 6+ years’ market research experience (ideally consulting/agency-side), with proven experience designing customised research programs and applying data analysis techniques 

  • Naturally inquisitiveness and drive to look beyond surface findings to uncover what’s really happening in the data 

  • Proven experience managing stakeholders and delivering client‑ready reports, presentations and proposals (including tenders) 

Skills 

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (arts, statistics, psychology, commerce or market research) 

  • Quantitative analysis skills, including large datasets, statistical techniques, survey design and data visualisation 

  • Working knowledge of qualitative methods (e.g. depth interviews, focus groups, intercepts) desirable 

  • Proficient in research platforms such as Q or SPSS and Qualtrics (or similar), including working with external panel providers 

  • Advanced PowerPoint, Word and Excel skills; experience with Power BI or Tableau a bonus 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights 

  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines 

  • Understanding of key strategic issues across the sport and entertainment industry 

  • People management experience a bonus

  • Contribute to Gemba’s reputation as a leader in delivering impactful, commercially valuable insights that help maintain and grow the quality of sport and entertainment in Australia
