Join our Communications team as a Communications Support Officer and play a hands-on role in creating engaging content, producing high-quality publications and promoting important health initiatives across the Gold Coast.

This position is offered as a Fixed Term appointment, contracted until 28 October 2026, with potential for extension.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create engaging content for social media, newsletters, website and campaigns.
  • Write, edit and proofread a range of communications materials including EDMs, internal communications, media releases, health alerts, human interest stories and collateral.
  • Support the production of internal and external newsletters, communications campaigns and media activities.
  • Build social media following and engagement, create short-form video content (e.g. Reels, Stories), schedule posts, and assist with monitoring comments and messages.
  • Stay up to date with social media and digital marketing trends and best practice.
  • Update and maintain website content.
  • Assist with basic graphic design using Canva.
  • Capture photos, video and stories at key events to support storytelling and promotional content.
  • Assist with monitoring and reporting on communications performance and identifying improvements.
  • Provide day-to-day support to the Communications team including monitoring the shared inbox, meeting coordination and minutes, and invoice processing.

SELECTION CRITERIA – ESSENTIAL

  • Tertiary qualification in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism or a related field, with relevant experience or up to 1–2 years in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of marketing and communications strategies and execution, including social media.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write, edit and proofread for a range of audiences and channels (e.g. newsletters, social media, web, internal communications and storytelling).
  • Ability to create engaging content, including social media, basic graphic design (e.g. Canva) and short-form video.
  • Experience using digital platforms such as content management systems (WordPress), email marketing tools (e.g. Mailchimp), social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and take initiative in a team environment.
  • Proactive, adaptable and willing to learn.

SELECTION CRITERIA – HIGHLY DESIRABLE

  • Basic photo and/or video editing skills.
  • Exposure to digital marketing platforms (e.g. Meta Ads Manager, Google Ads).
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Understanding of, or interest in, public or primary health care.

  • Remuneration package: $63,141 to $87,243 plus superannuation
  • Flexible work arrangements, including hybrid working
