We’re looking for a creative and detail-oriented Communications Officer – Graphic Design & Digital Content with strong graphic design capability to join our high-performing Communications team.

This hands-on role is responsible for delivering high-quality graphic design, video and digital content that supports important health initiatives across the Gold Coast. You will produce visually engaging communications across digital and print channels while supporting website, social media and digital marketing activities.

This position is offered as a Fixed Term appointment, contracted until 28 October 2026, with potential for extension.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Working as part of a collaborative communications team, you will lead the design and visual content function while contributing to broader communications and marketing activities. You’ll help translate complex health information into clear, accessible and visually engaging communications for health professionals and the community.

This is a dynamic role where you’ll take ideas and briefs from concept through to finished design, working across multiple projects and channels.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design high-quality visual communications aligned with organisational priorities and brand guidelines.
  • Produce a range of digital and print assets including campaign creative, infographics, presentations, publications and templates.
  • Prepare print-ready artwork to professional standards and coordinate with external print suppliers.
  • Create engaging visual storytelling content including photography and short-form video.
  • Film and edit video content for social media and case studies.
  • Capture visual content at events and activities.
  • Maintain and update website content using WordPress, ensuring information is clear, accessible and visually engaging.
  • Work with external developers to support website improvements, functionality and optimisation (including basic SEO).
  • Develop social media content including graphics, captions and short-form video, and schedule and monitor posts.
  • Support digital marketing activities including setting up and monitoring paid campaigns across Meta and Google Ads.
  • Monitor and analyse performance across website, social media and campaigns, using insights to improve content and engagement.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA – ESSENTIAL

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in graphic design, ideally within a communications or marketing environment.
  • Tertiary qualification in Graphic Design or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premier Pro) and Canva.
  • Demonstrated experience producing high-quality design across digital and print, including producing creative assets to support communications or marketing campaigns.
  • Ability to translate complex information into clear, visually engaging communications.
  • Experience creating visual content, including short-form video and photography.
  • Experience using CMS platforms (e.g. WordPress), website analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics), and digital tools (e.g. social media platforms, Mailchimp).
  • Ability to write for digital channels including social media.
  • Knowledge of graphic design principles, visual communication and branding.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain brand consistency.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to build positive working relationships.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA – HIGHLY DESIRABLE

  • Skills in motion graphics, animation or advanced video editing.
  • Experience with Meta Ads Manager or Google Ads.
  • Knowledge of SEO, UX/UI or HTML/CSS.

 

WE OFFER

  • Remuneration package: $78,059 to $102,005 plus superannuation
  • Flexible work arrangements, including hybrid working
  • Salary packaging benefits (up to $15,900 p.a. + $2,650 p.a. for meals/entertainment)
