This Role Will Challenge You. That’s the Point.
This role is for someone who defines the standard for marketing science not someone who simply executes it.
Forethought is seeking a Director Analytics & Quantitative Solutions to act as the methodological authority for our firm. You will shape how analytical work is designed, evaluated and defended, ensuring the insights guiding major marketing and business decisions are genuinely robust.
Forethought is a 30-year success story with offices in Melbourne and New York, and Australia’s award-winning customer and marketing analytics consultancy. Our clients trust us because we tell them the truth about what is working and what is not.
This role sits at the intersection of analytical rigour and strategic influence, reporting directly to the CEO.
Our Analytical Culture
Forethought has an unusually strong analytical culture for a consultancy of our size.
Across our 40-person team we employ several PhD-qualified researchers spanning marketing science, data science, behavioural science and cultural anthropology. Many of our team combine academic training with deep consulting experience.
Our reputation is built on analytical credibility, intellectual honesty and clear thinking.
The Role
This is not a delivery role. You will not be running trackers or building models day-to-day.
Instead, you will be responsible for how marketing science is practiced across the firm. Defining methodological standards, challenging assumptions and ensuring analytical work stands up to scrutiny from both clients and our own teams.
Key responsibilities include:
Defining and evolving best-practice marketing science methods and measurement frameworks
Acting as the final methodological authority on analytical approaches and outputs
Reviewing and validating complex work across brand measurement, attribution, causal inference and econometric modelling
Building analytical capability through training and mentoring
Safeguarding analytical integrity in complex or high-stakes client situations
Contributing to marketing science-led client offers, intellectual property and thought leadership
Engaging with CMOs, CFOs and senior client stakeholders to explain and defend analytical work
While there are no direct reports, the quality of marketing science at Forethought will ultimately sit with you.
The Work We Do
Our work spans:
Marketing mix modelling and econometric analysis
Causal inference and experimental design
Brand and communications effectiveness
Attribution and cross-channel measurement
Customer and growth analytics
We work closely with senior marketing and commercial leaders to translate rigorous analysis into clear, defensible decisions.
What You Will Bring
PhD preferred (Masters minimum) in Marketing, Statistics, Econometrics, Data Science or related discipline
10+ years’ experience in marketing science, advanced analytics or market research
Deep expertise in brand measurement, attribution, econometrics and causal inference
Strong understanding of experimental design and statistical modelling
Experience in a consulting, advisory or applied analytics environment
Confidence to challenge clients, colleagues or methodologies when required
Ability to explain complex analytical ideas to senior commercial stakeholders
We are particularly interested in candidates who have contributed to thought leadership, including publications or methodological contributions.
What Makes Forethought Distinctive
Direct influence on how marketing science is practiced across the firm
A highly analytical culture
Exposure to senior decision-makers at leading brands
Hybrid working from our Melbourne HQ
Summer Fridays (3pm finish)
Birthday leave
Career development that supports intellectual leadership
