🚀 The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Senior Design Engineer who wants to lead from the front. This is more than a design role—you’ll take ownership of design outcomes, driving compliance, buildability, engineering excellence, and tight coordination across trades to keep ambitious building programs on track.
This is a hands-on leadership role in a fast-moving environment where decisions are made quickly, the latest design technology is standard practice, and strong technical leadership is recognised and valued.
You’ll work alongside a high-calibre team of designers, coaching and developing junior talent while helping shape how we design, collaborate, and deliver into the future.
The role reports directly to the Construction Manager—known for a hands-on leadership style and genuine commitment to mentoring and growing people.
🛠️ What You’ll Be Doing
Leadership & Ownership
Lead fire protection design across multiple commercial projects
Take full ownership of design outcomes from concept through to delivery
Mentor and develop Project Engineers, designers, and junior team members
Drive consistency, quality, and continuous improvement across design outputs
Technical Excellence
Deliver and review compliant fire protection designs aligned with Australian Standards
Perform and validate hydraulic calculations
Oversee CAD/Revit models, fabrication drawings, and documentation
Ensure designs are practical, efficient, and construction-ready
Project & Stakeholder Management
Partner closely with Project Managers, site teams, and contractors
Lead design coordination across multiple trades and disciplines
Attend and contribute to design and project meetings
Conduct site visits to resolve issues and maintain alignment with build progress
Commercial & Process Focus
Optimise design efficiency to support project cost and margin targets
Assist with variations, procurement inputs, and contract compliance
Champion systems and processes including Procore and PMO standards
Safety & Culture
Lead by example in safety, ensuring compliance with all regulations and company standards

🎯 What You Bring
- Significant experience in fire protection design within commercial construction
Strong working knowledge of Australian Standards and regulatory requirements
Advanced AutoCAD skills (Revit highly regarded)
Proven capability in hydraulic calculations and system design
Demonstrated leadership experience—mentoring, coaching, or leading teams
Strong commercial awareness and ability to balance quality with efficiency
Engineering qualification (or equivalent industry experience)
