About Us

Football South West is the newly established governing body for football in the South West region of Western Australia. Our vision is to make football the most inclusive, accessible, and community-driven sport across the region. We aim to provide quality football experiences for all, regardless of age, gender, ability, or background.  

With approximately 10,000 participants and over 4,000 registered players, Football South West, which is affiliated to Football West, fosters an environment that brings the game to life on parks, pitches, and indoor centres around the region.  

 

Your role

As the Community Participation Officer (CPO), you will play a key role in growing football participation across the South West region of Western Australia. Working closely with clubs, players, coaches, schools, officials, and community stakeholders, you’ll help deliver positive football experiences and support the ongoing development of the game.

This hands-on role will coordinate and support a range of initiatives including Football West visits, coach education, Football West Academy programs, talent development, school engagement activities, and futsal programs, while acting as a key liaison between Football South West and the wider football community.

This is a fixed term, full-time position based in the South West region of Western Australia and reports directly to the General Manager.

What you will be doing:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clubs, schools, community stakeholders, and local partners across the region
  • Support the growth and development of football participation pathways for boys and girls
  • Coordinate and promote coaching, refereeing, player development, and participation programs
  • Assist in the delivery of Football West Academy, talent development, school, and futsal programs
  • Lead and support coaches delivering football programs within schools and community settings
  • Coordinate regional events, activities, and participation initiatives
  • Maintain accurate program and participation data across Football West systems
  • Provide administrative and operational support across regional football programs
  • Represent Football South West within the community and at stakeholder meetings
  • Support key community campaigns and initiatives, including inclusion, safeguarding, and mental health awareness
  • Undertake other duties as required, including regional travel

About You

We’re looking for a proactive and community-minded professional who takes ownership, thrives on new challenges, and is passionate about growing football participation across the region. You’ll be a strong communicator with excellent organisational skills, a collaborative approach, and the ability to build positive relationships with clubs, schools, volunteers, and the wider community along with:

  • Experience in community sport, sports administration, or program delivery
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently
  • Highly organised with strong administration and IT skills
  • Understanding of community football environments and participation pathways
  • Commitment to inclusion, diversity, and positive community engagement
  • Proactive approach with the ability to use initiative and problem solve
  • Knowledge of contemporary volunteer management practices
  • Knowledge of football and the FA National Curriculum is highly regarded
  • Current Foundation of Football qualification highly regarded

  • Eligibility to work in Australia
  • National Police Clearance valid within the last 3 months
  • Current WA Driver’s Licence
  • Valid Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain)
  • Current First Aid Certificate & CPR (or ability to obtain)
