Fire and Safety Australia is seeking experienced Emergency Response Officers (EROs) to assist in covering additional shifts. These casual positions are for our client based in Hobart, Tasmania. The roster includes 2 days, 2 nights, followed by 4 days off.

About the Role:

The role of an Emergency Response Officer entails active participation in the on-site emergency response team, comprehending systems and procedures to both prevent and tackle incidents. Responsibilities include mentoring and familiarising on-site personnel with operational procedures and safety protocols, in addition to providing support for health and safety initiatives when required.

You will need to be located in Tasmania to be considered for these roles.

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Provide advanced first aid and CPR
  • Undertake vertical rescue/confined space rescue
  • Participate in a rescue operation
  • Undertake first response to fire incidents
  • Breathing apparatus (SCBA)
  • Provide initial response to workplace hazardous material incidents
  • MSIC Card – (preferred)
  • Hazmat
  • Certificate II in Security Operations (preferred)
  • Working at heights
  • Enter and work in confined spaces
  • Work in accordance with an issued permit
  • Certificate II in Fire Protection Inspection and Testing
  • Identify types of installed fire safety equipment and systems (for TFS license)
  • Prepare for installation and servicing operations (for TFS license)
  • Install portable fire extinguishers, fire cabinets and fire blankets (desirable)
  • Conduct routine inspection and testing of fire extinguishers and fire blankets
  • Certificate III in Pathology – perform blood collections (Preferred)
  • Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing

Required Experience:

  • Proven active experience within the fire and rescue industry, preferably within an industrial environment
  • Proven expertise in industrial fire, rescue and emergency operational concepts, procedures and systems.
  • Proven experience in high-risk work including rescue and hazard
  • Medical treatment experience
