About the Role:
As the Maintenance Manager, you’ll take ownership of all maintenance activity across our Oakleigh South site — from production equipment to buildings and grounds. This is a hands-on leadership role that blends day-to-day troubleshooting with strategic planning, contractor management and a strong focus on safety and compliance.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead and prioritise maintenance activities for one direct report and external contractors, keeping day-to-day operations running smoothly.
- Manage a diverse contractor base covering electrical, plumbing, HVAC, materials handling equipment, waste removal, landscaping, cleaning, capital works and more
- Own the preventative maintenance schedule, coordinating across Production, Warehouse and Quality to minimise downtime
- Troubleshoot mechanical and pneumatic plant issues and drive root cause resolution
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with GMP, TGA, DG and OH&S requirements — including SWMS, Work Permits and contractor inductions
- Monitor KPIs including uptime, MTBF and budget performance while maintaining accurate records within GMP-controlled areas
- Coordinate maintenance activities during planned production shutdowns
- Maintain equipment calibration schedules and raise purchase orders within budget
- Champion continuous improvement and a culture of safe, accountable teamwork

Essential experience/qualifications include:
- Trade qualification (e.g. Mechanical Fitter) — essential
- Proven experience managing a maintenance team and overseeing contractors
- Solid background in preventative maintenance systems and scheduling
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and pneumatic equipment faults
- Sound understanding of OH&S legislation, risk assessments and safe work practices
- Forklift licence; Working at Heights, Confined Spaces and chemical management competencies
- Strong attention to detail, disciplined record keeping and clear communicator
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
