About the Role

Sunshine Coast Equine Hospital (SCEH) is seeking a motivated and preferably experienced Associate Equine Veterinarian to join our growing team ahead of our hospital opening in January 2026.

This is a unique opportunity to work within a hospital-based environment alongside specialists, experienced veterinarians, and a skilled nursing team, all committed to delivering the highest standards of care for horses in the region and beyond.

As an Associate Veterinarian, you will be involved in a diverse and stimulating caseload—providing medical, surgical, reproduction and emergency care while contributing to the growth of a new hospital that values excellence, compassion, and teamwork.

About Us

Founded by with a clear vision—to create a centre of excellence for equine health on the Sunshine Coast.

Our new, purpose-built facility has been designed to provide comprehensive, hospital-based care for horses, with a focus on specialist-level medical, surgical, first opinion care and emergency services. The first stage of the hospital will offer:

  • Full medical and surgical specialist care
  • Lameness and poor performance evaluations
  • Reproduction and dentistry services
  • First opinion care
  • Advanced diagnostics and intensive care facilities

Further development phases will expand into advanced imaging and other referral services, ensuring continued growth and opportunity for our team.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver high-quality veterinary care across first opinion, medical, surgical, and emergency cases.
  • Manage both outpatients and inpatients with guidance and support from our specialist team.
  • Conduct clinical examinations, diagnostics, and treatments using state-of-the-art facilities.
  • Communicate effectively and compassionately with clients and referring veterinarians.
  • Participate in an after-hours roster shared within a supportive team environment

About You

We are looking for a versatile, practical team player who takes pride in delivering the best possible outcomes for patients and clients. You will thrive in a team environment and value collaboration and mutual respect.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • BVSc, DVM, or equivalent veterinary degree.
  • Eligible for registration with the Veterinary Surgeons Board of Queensland.
  • Current Australian work rights.
  • At least 1–2 years’ experience in equine practice (or a strong internship background) would be preferred, however new graduates with equine experience will be considered.
  • Special interests in dentistry, reproduction, sports medicine or general practice would be highly regarded.
  • Confident managing routine and emergency cases.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and teamwork skills.
  • A genuine passion for ongoing professional development and clinical excellence.
