About the role
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our
Reseller team – the group responsible for maintaining reporting dashboards for Resellers of Fat Zebra.
In this role, you will set technical direction, mentor
engineers, and drive execution across a small team (3) of developers, under the
wider Customer Experience guild (12 members, including you).
Our tech stack is Ruby on Rails, with limited React/TypeScript on the frontend. This team and position is primarily backend-focused.
Reporting to the Customer Experience Leads some of your
responsibilities will be:
Foster a culture of ownership, curiosity, and continual improvement across system design, development practices, and documentation.
Set and drive the technical direction for the reseller domain, ensuring architectural decisions align with long-term business and system needs.
Lead the delivery of major initiatives, ensuring high-quality outcomes from design, deployment to post-release iteration.
Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and influence decision-making across the
organisation
Own critical production systems and guide the team through diagnosing and resolving complex issues such as ledger discrepancies, state propagation challenges, and third-party integrations.
About You
You are a seasoned engineering leader who combines deep Ruby on Rails & technical expertise coupled with exceptional people and stakeholder skills.
Specifically, you have:
Production-quality Ruby on Rails experience
A track record of architecting systems that are robust, maintainable, and long-lived.
Strong communication skills and the ability to bring clarity to ambiguous technical and/ or product problems.
Experience managing prioritisation across business needs, technical constraints, and team capacity.
Deep curiosity, you seek to understand complex domains, data flows, and systems.
