About the Role

This role is about walking alongside Māori whānau on their cancer journey, from screening through to treatment and recovery. You’ll combine clinical expertise with genuine care and cultural understanding to make a real difference in people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care and support to ensure Māori are accessing screening and follow-up care at the right time.

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care and support to Māori patients with cancer, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.

• Work closely with our multidisciplinary team to create and deliver holistic, patient-centred care plans.

• Build trusting relationships with patients, their families, and whānau, ensuring care is culturally safe and aligned with kaupapa Māori values.

• Take part in quality improvement activities aimed at improving outcomes and enhancing the patient and whānau experience.

What You’ll Bring

• Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing Council of New Zealand

• Minimum RN3 or above

• Experience working with Māori patients and families desirable

• Experience in community nursing or oncology an advantage, but not essential

• Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in healthcare

• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, whanau, and healthcare teams

• Commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care
