Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA) is the nation’s leading voice on exercise and sports science. We govern and represent approximately 10,000 degree-qualified accredited exercise professionals who support Australians to reach their health and performance goals.

About your role

This role will support the delivery of ESSA’s strategic and operational priorities. Working across a broad portfolio you will be responsible for leading and coordinating projects that improve how the organisation operates and delivers value to its members.

You will:

  • Lead end-to-end project delivery on strategic and transformative projects from initiation through to completion
  • Develop project plans, timelines, budgets and resource requirements
  • Monitor progress and ensure delivery against agreed milestones
  • Identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to define project scope and objectives
  • Play a lead role in the coordination, management and communication with ESSA member working groups and member engagement forums
  • Establish appropriate project governance and reporting frameworks
  • Provide regular updates on progress, risks and outcomes to leadership
  • Drive improvements and transformation of current project delivery practices and approaches
  • Foster a collaborative and solutions-focused approach
  • Support capability uplift in project management across the organisation

Your competitive edge will include:

  • Proven experience delivering projects end-to-end, from planning through to completion
  • Tertiary qualifications in project management, business or a related field
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and keep work on track
  • Ability to bring structure and clarity to complex or ambiguous projects
  • Confident stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build relationships and keep people aligned
  • Experience working within a not-for-profit, member-based or health-related environment (highly desirable)
  • High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in planning, reporting and delivery
  • A proactive and solutions-focused mindset, with a focus on getting things done
