🌟About the Role

Reporting to the Functions Lead, the Senior Finance Officer/Finance Officer will oversee key financial operations including budget monitoring, invoicing, financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance with financial regulations.

You will also work closely with operational teams to ensure accurate rostering and invoicing through systems such as ShiftCare and Xero, supporting the organisation’s financial sustainability and compliance with NDIS requirements.

💼 Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, forecasting, monitoring and review of expenditure budgets

  • Prepare accurate financial reports relating to expenditure and non-trading income (e.g., groceries, participant expenses, rent and operational costs)
  • Manage financial transactions including petty cash and participant grocery accounts
  • Oversee ShiftCare shift creation and ensure shift ratios align with approved Rosters of Care
  • Generate invoices through ShiftCare and export to Xero, ensuring accuracy before distribution to Plan Managers
  • Investigate and resolve invoice discrepancies and reconciliation issues
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations of participant accounts and house-based financial records
  • Maintain audit-ready financial documentation and ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal controls
  • Provide financial guidance to operational managers on budgeting, expenditure and invoicing
  • Support continuous improvement of financial systems and reporting processes

👩‍⚕️ About You

We are looking for a professional who combines strong financial capability with excellent organisational and analytical skills.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a finance or accounting role within the NDIS or disability sector
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or Business/Diploma in Accounting or Bookkeeping
  • Strong understanding of NDIS funding models, participant budgets and invoicing to Plan Managers
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero and Microsoft Office
  • Experience with financial reporting, reconciliations and budgeting
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Professional communication skills and ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with ShiftCare or similar rostering systems
  • Xero Advisor certification
  • Microsoft Excel skills including financial reporting and data analysis
