Job Overview
The Electrical Tradesperson is accountable under the leadership and direction of a supervisor to carry out the duties associated with the construction, commissioning, operating, and maintenance of overhead and underground and distribution systems.
The Electrical Tradesperson is accountable to operate safely and effectively as a team member in the work environment. This may also include duties associated with the construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of substations.
Responsibilities of this position
- Safety, Health and Environment
Ensure workforce fully understand and comply with the Kolsen QHSE requirements and relevant policies.
Be proactive in identifying hazards, developing safety procedures, and encouraging continuous improvement in relation to HSE.
Ensure that all electrical work is performed by and supervised by holders of electrical work license appropriate to the work.
Assist in identifying hazards, advising on safety procedures, and monitoring work practices to ensure adherence to correct procedures and standards for safety and environmental performance. Support the Kolsen Group corporate quality, safety, health, and environmental management systems by:
- Reporting to your Manager or QHSE Manager any situation that could result in harm
to a person, the environment or may adversely affect the services we provide
for our customers.
- Report to your Manager or QHSE Manager any opportunity that you believe would improve the quality of service we provide our customers or could reduce the potential for harm to people or the environment.
Understand and support the annual QHSE objectives.
To immediately pause or make safe any work condition or activity that could result in immediate harm and immediately notify either by phone or in person the responsible line manager and the QHSE adviser or Director.
Leading and promoting the implementation of integrated management systems for Quality, Safety, Health and the Environment.
Ensure apprentices perform works only as per Division 3A of the “Electrical Workers and Contractors Act 1978″
Quality
Ensure that all electrical installation work is in accordance with the relevant(latest editions)
Statutory Requirements, State Legislation, Australian Standards and Site Quality Requirements.
People and Teams
Supervise, coach and mentor apprentices. Maintain a high level of communication and cooperative working relationships on site. Be proactive in reporting any workforce issues and concerns.
Other
Undertake other tasks to support the projector business operations as required. Adhere to
the Direction, Competence, Opportunity, and Motivation (D-COM) principles.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in heavy industrial electrical construction, including installation of high-voltage (HV) equipment and systems
- Experience in the construction of substations (highly advantageous)
- Proven ability to read and interpret electrical and schematic drawings
- Experience in assembly, fit-out, and wiring of distribution systems and switchboards
- Experience in control systems assembly, fit-out, and wiring
- Familiarity with custom and modular enclosure systems assembly
- Experience working with copper busbar power distribution systems
- Strong understanding of power industry and/or heavy industry environments
- Demonstrated leadership capability with the ability to guide and mentor others
- Commitment to promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture
Licences & Requirements:
- Current Northern Territory Electrical Trade Certificate or NT Electrical Worker Registration
- Current Northern Territory “C” Class Driver’s Licence
Desirable:
- Experience with PWC (Power and Water Corporation) projects highly regarded
