This role
We are seeking a highly ambitious Assistant Accountant to join our finance team, with a primary focus on our eBenefits revenue stream. This is an international role that balances accounting with high-impact stakeholder engagement.
This position is uniquely split between core financial functions and proactive collections. You will be responsible for the full-cycle Accounts Receivable process for our Earned Wage Access (EWA) product, moving from initial reporting and reconciliation all the way through to active collections. Roughly 50% of this role is dedicated to AR management, requiring a confident communicator who is comfortable picking up the phone to resolve outstanding balances with our global clients.
You will serve as a key point of contact for our international client base, managing finance-related inquiries regarding Heropoints, EWA, and general account queries. As we operate on a global scale, you will support both the Australian and international markets, which includes regular communication with stakeholders and customers in the UK timezone.
You will play a crucial role in the operations of the Finance team and will work closely with the eBenefits Product, Support, and Finance teams. You will be responsible for our day-to-day eBenefits accounting, including reconciliations, journals, accruals, and will have exposure to inter-company and FX transactions. They will also take ownership of commission integrity by auditing and validating payouts across our sales team and partner network.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who can work at a fast pace. You will be responsible for running the day-to-day accounts while also maintaining compliance. You are a composed and focused professional who thrives under pressure, and have a proven ability to juggle priorities, meeting deadlines with ease while maintaining a high standard of work. We’re seeking a commercially-minded accountant with great critical thinking skills.
You will leverage AI-driven accounting tools and automation to streamline high-volume transactions, allowing you to focus on strategic analysis and complex problem-solving rather than manual data entry.
This role will include
Daily reconciliation of eBenefits bank accounts across multiple regions
Ownership of the Spend Account reconciliation, daily settlements and chargeback process
Ownership of Earned Wages Access Accounts Receivable process and reconciliation
Completion of month end balance sheet reconciliations ensuring that all reconciliation issues are investigated and resolved
Working closely with Accounts payables on top up or transfer requirements for the eBenefits revenue stream
Ownership of the eBenefits cashflow to ensure sufficient funds and timely settlement of funds
Reconciliation of Heropoint incentives and giftcards
Put forward and drive process improvements for the eBenefits revenue stream
Work closely with assistant accountants, junior accountants, support and eBenefits product owners
Assist in the external audits
Collaborate with cross-functional product, engineering, and finance teams to standardise accounting processes and drive operational efficiencies for eBenefits initiatives with the help of AI
Owning and resolving client queries on any of the eBenefit revenue streams as they arise on internal communications platforms via Employment Hero and Zendesk
Ensuring documentation of all processes
Auditing and validating payouts for partnership commissions statements and ensuring timely submissions and payments
Ensuring the accuracy of sales commission payouts

At least 2 years experience in a similar accounting role
Currently studying for CPA or CA Qualification (or previously completed)
Relevant degree in finance/accounting
Experience with NetSuite, Periscope, Tableau, Floqast is advantageous
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Hungry, creative, enthusiastic, and data-driven with a diverse skill set to thrive in an environment of fast growth and ambiguity
Strong attention to detail
Strong planning and organisational skills with aptitude to learn and complete work within agreed deadlines
Analytical skills to interpret and present accurate financial data, and to understand financial trends through forecasting
Strong communication, presentation, listening skills and ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision
Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills
A positive attitude and strong work ethic
Ability to thrive in a high-volume environment with shifting priorities
A proactive interest in AI and fintech automation; you are eager to explore how emerging technologies can improve financial accuracy and operational speed
