Employment OS for your Business

Senior Employment Relations Advisor – Remote

Brisbane, Queensland 4000, Australia • Part-time

Description

Who we are:

We’re a medium-sized Human Resources and Industrial Relations Consulting firm. There is no one-size-fits-all in our service delivery, and every moment working with clients we are providing tailored solutions to meet their needs.

We do it all: undertaking large transformation projects through to acting as a ‘phone-a-friend’ service for clients to sense check their suggested approach. We operate our services across all industries and specialise in NDIS and community-focused organisations.

We offer HR advice and support across every stage of the employment life cycle, industrial relations representation and consulting, payroll auditing, HR and payroll system implementations, WHS, recruitment and Workers Compensation.

While the support we provide is varied, at the heart of our service delivery is our team of self-confessed IR and ER nerds. Where we thrive is diving into legislation and case law to provide well researched, yet practical and realistic advice to our clients.

Why we’re special:

We’re built different by leaders who care. We live our values with empathy and integrity.  When we say this job is ‘flexible’, we actually mean it. Here’s how:

  • Choose your hours: pick and set your desired work hours and days (approximately 24 hours per week), offered on a permanent on-going basis.
  • Manage your own schedule: own your diary and appointments, guaranteeing time that’s important for you: get to school drop offs and pickups, gym and yoga classes, and lunch dates with friends.
  • No unpaid additional hours: get paid for every minute you’re at your desk.
  • 100% remote work: no office attendance, client site, or travel required.
  • Not a call centre: our HR on demand service means you are not required to be ‘on queue’ in a call centre environment.
  • No sales targets: you are not expected to bring in new business, and your employment is not linked to any client service or project (something that is common in the professional consulting industry).
  • Life happens: increase and decrease your work hours collaboratively as need be.

The role:

We keep on growing and we need to add consultants to our team to continue to offer wow-worthy service to our clients. We are on the lookout for an experienced professional to join our team as a Senior Consultant.

What you’d be doing:

As a trusted Senior Consultant, you’ll have direct contact with our clients across varied industries to provide support and expert advice across each stage of the employment life cycle.

In any given day, you may be:

  • Informing clients on risks, options, advice, and recommendations for any employment related question or matter.
  • Interpreting Award provisions for clients and applying to their issues to determine compliance levels and appropriate solutions.
  • Offering complex employment relations and industrial relations advice and support on terminations, restructures, workplace investigations, and FWC claims.
  • Supporting clients in managing employee matters such as absenteeism, employee welfare, performance concerns, and misconduct matters.
  • Acting as the outsourced HR Manager for some clients, managing day-to-day HR questions, ongoing HR compliance and initiatives, including acting as the HR business partner to run meetings with employees direct, on request.
  • Review, draft, and implement tailored HR documentation including employment contracts, policies, position descriptions, reports, and letters.

Who you are:

We’re looking for someone special. Ideally, you will be able to demonstrate:

  • Extensive (minimum 10 years’) experience operating as a HR professional.
  • Proven ability to provide accurate and practice advice across a wide range of topics.
  • Strong knowledge of Awards with demonstrated expertise in accurate interpretation and application.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, professional writing style, and Microsoft Office skills.
  • A client-centric mindset with a strong focus on delivering excellent service.
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen and sound decision-making skills.
