Victoria University (VU) has partnered with the Education Centre of Australia since 2007, to deliver courses at VU’s Sydney campus – known as VU Sydney. In mid-2023, we launched a Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education offering at VU Sydney and later expanded with a Bachelor of Early Childhood.
We are seeking a suitably qualified and experienced individual for the role of Professional Experience Placement Co-ordinator. Please note this role will be a fixed-term contract of approximately 12 months.
Position Summary
The primary purpose of the Professional Experience Placement Co-ordinator is to work as part of the Professional Experience Placement team in partnership with the relevant College within VU and the ECA team to provide placement management and ensuring consistency in the application of VU’s policies and procedures. This Professional Experience Placement Co-ordinator role would be responsible for the following VU programs at VU Sydney:
- Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education (EGEC)
- Bachelor of Early Childhood (EBEC)
- Additional education programs that may be offered at VU Sydney.
Key Responsibilities
The major responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
- Pre-placement planning by organising and participating in briefing sessions with providers and students; assisting in securing placements from NSW sites; assisting in planning community placements / Playworks activities.
- Liaising with relevant staff to ensure placements are allocated effectively; assisting in student remediation plans; supporting students on PEP; liaising with placement sites; implementing reasonable adjustment plans; undertaking risk assessment.
- Assisting in monitoring adherence to administrative procedures and implement business improvement initiatives as required; maintain accurate record keeping ensuring regulatory compliance; work as part of a small PEP team effectively.
- Maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders on placement related matters to support planning, implementation and quality assurance; seeking new placement opportunities and continue supporting and building relationships with placement providers.
As the successful candidate you will ideally have:
- Relevant qualifications in Early Childhood
- Experience working in Childcare centres in administration, managerial or director level roles
- Experience in a placement setting
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent time management with attention to detail
- An ability to work with multiple stakeholders and to manage effective working relationships
- Experience with international students is desirable
