We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Learning Support Coordinator to be part of our team at the ECA University of Tasmania Study Centre in Ultimo (Sydney) NSW.

ECA runs Study Centres in both Melbourne and Sydney on behalf of the University of Tasmania, offering a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Business and Information Technology to international students. The ECA Learning Support Coordinator at Ultimo supports the academic teaching by offering tailored support for international students in areas including study skills workshops, at-risk intervention and student consultation. The Learning Support Coordinator will lead activities in these areas, design and implement improvements in learning support strategy and provide governance and reporting on the learning support function.

Key Responsibilities:

• Identify and lead strategic planning, coordination and evaluation of learning support and academic intervention programs at the Ultimo Study Centre.

• Provide on-campus and online learning support workshops to international students in areas including study skills and academic integrity.

• Use student data to identify at-risk students and provide just-in-time outreach and support.

• Provide advice and academic support to students as part of the university’s Academic Progress Review (APR).

• Participate in Orientation activities connected to learning support.

• Produce creative and engaging resources that promote academic and study skills.

• Maintain the Study Centre’s portal on the University’s LMS.

• Collaborate with the Learning Support Coordinator in Melbourne to align practice and identify opportunities for improvements.

• Maintain records and produce reports on activities undertaken by the Learning Support team 

• Evaluate services provided by the Learning Support team and engage in continuous improvement activities, as required

As the successful candidate you will ideally have:

• Postgraduate level qualifications in TESOL/ESL and Business or linguistic/Communication studies, or equivalent

• Minimum 2 years’ experience working with adult international students providing them with academic support and/or developing their literacy skills and managing students at academic risk

• Demonstrated ability to plan and manage Study Support programs

• Demonstrated ability to develop and/or facilitate engaging resources and workshops targeting skills development

• Demonstrated commitment to student learning and providing a positive student experience across all academic activities

• Demonstrated experience fostering effective working relationships with academic staff across multiple locations

• Working knowledge of universal design for learning principles

• Understanding of current trends in GenAI and academic integrity

• Awareness of learning and language acquisition theories and how these can be utilised in practice

• Knowledge of the National Code of Practice (2018) and compliance obligations of higher education providers
