We have got an exciting opportunity for (Information Technology) Trainer and Assessor (part-time/sessional) to be part of our team at ECA college in our Sydney office.
Key Responsibilities:
The IT Trainer and Assessor at ECA College is responsible for delivering face-to-face training and assessment for the Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Information Technology (Cyber Security). This role includes delivering engaging, hands-on classes for 26 hours per week, along with completing weekly marking and administrative duties. The trainer is expected to uphold their responsibilities within a competency-based VET framework by undertaking the following tasks:
- Understand the framework of Competency-based assessment, RTO standards, and training and assessment procedures.
- Delivering cyber security units with a strong focus on both theory and industry-relevant practical skills.
- Supporting students in meeting learning outcomes, assessment deadlines, and achieving competency aligned and cooperating with the supervising trainer.
- Deliver engaging training and encourage students to show their practical understanding of the task or questions by demonstrating it in a practical manner.
- Ensuring training and assessment resources remain relevant to current general IT and cyber security industry practices.
- Meet deadlines when marking assessments, finalising results within designated timeframe and provide sufficient, fair, and valid feedback.
- Ensure the current competency level of the lectures and assessment materials by developing industry skills and knowledge, and willingness to participate in PD activities.
- Mentor and report student progressions to the Academic Manager and Student Services and record attendance through attendance forms and in the system.
- Focus on learning progression of students by providing continuous support to help them meet the assessment deadlines and gain full competency in a timely manner.
- Map out and modify the resources available for training according to relevant and current industry and report to the LMS and Academic team to update.
- Participate in post-validation program per term to support the Course Leads.
- Support the Academic Manager in fulfilling practical tasks, training and assessment tools modification and other assessment competency expectation.
- Knowledge of working with Student Management System and Learning Management System and willingness to participate in inductions, trainings, and team meetings.
- Collaborate and communicate actively and constantly with the Academic Manager on the assigned tasks.
- Hold the right qualifications to train and assess Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Information Technology specialised in Cyber Security.
As the successful candidate must have:
- A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or TAE40122) is mandatory.
- A tertiary qualification, bachelor’s degree or higher, in Information Technology, with a focus on Cyber Security and Information Security, or a closely related field.
- Experience in relevant industry, and substantial discipline knowledge as it relates to this position.
- Subject matter knowledge & knowledge of VET Sector.
- Adult education skills
- Ability to contribute effectively as a constructive and proactive member of a team.
- Effective interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills relevant to teaching and consultancy environments.
