Junior Platform Engineer

Job Overview:

As a Junior Platform Engineer, you will focus on the hardware-to-cloud bridge of the SmartSense platform. Your primary role involves configuring IoT gateways, managing cellular connectivity, and writing Python scripts to ensure reliable data transmission from the edge to our central systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• IoT Gateway & Protocol Management: Support the integration of sensors and gateways using protocols such as MQTT and BACnet IP, Modbus, OPC, Profinet
• Scripting & Data Flow: Develop and maintain Python-based scripts to handle data parsing and transmission logic.
• Connectivity & Infrastructure: Manage gateway connectivity, including GSM/cellular configurations and Ubuntu-based edge environments.
• Networking & Security: Apply networking basics to ensure secure and stable communication between local hardware and the platform.
• API Support: Assist in developing and maintaining APIs to enable integration with third-party services. 
• Technical Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation, including configuration guides and operational runbooks.

Qualifications:

1. Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering.
2. Experience: 0-2 years of experience in a equivalent technical role.
3. Technical Skills:

• Operating Systems: Strong familiarity with Ubuntu/Linux environments and command-line interfaces.
• Programming: Proficiency in Python for scripting and automation.
• IoT Protocols: Understanding of MQTT, BACnet IP, and other technologies like LoRaWAN or Zigbee.
• Networking: Solid grasp of networking basics (IP addressing, routing, and port configuration).
• Communication Tech: Familiarity with GSM and cellular M2M connectivity.
• APIs: Knowledge of RESTful API development and integration.
• Familiarity with version control systems
• Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills with a focus on troubleshooting hardware and connectivity issues.
