The Role 

Join our Engineering team as a Hotel Handyperson and play an important role in ensuring our property remains safe, well-maintained, and welcoming for every guest. 

 

We are looking to expand our Engineering department and are currently seeking an additional Hotel Handyperson to join our team. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will support the day-to-day maintenance of guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities while ensuring the hotel is maintained to the highest standards and operates efficiently. 

 

This is a hands-on role suited to a proactive individual who takes pride in workmanship and enjoys working in a dynamic hotel environment. Training and development will be provided with opportunities for future growth. 

 

While we are primarily seeking a full-time Hotel Handyperson, we would consider offering a casual position for the right candidate. 

 

Responsibilities 

With a hands-on approach, your responsibilities will include: 

  • Undertaking general hotel repairs & maintenance tasks including basic carpentry, plaster repairs, painting, basic plumbing, siliconing & tiling, general minor electrical, door maintenance & other general repairs 
  • Responding promptly to guest room maintenance requests including showers, toilets, TVs & basic IT systems 
  • Conducting routine building inspections across guest floors, public & back of house areas & external common spaces 
  • Performing routine hotel pool maintenance including pool cleaning, water testing, filter maintenance & general facility upkeep 
  • Executing a detailed Preventative Planned Maintenance (PPM) schedule 
  • Maintaining accurate repair logs & reporting maintenance issues 
  • Participating in hotel fire, safety & emergency response procedures when required 
  • Supporting the wider hotel team with ad hoc maintenance & operational tasks 

 

About YOU 

To be successful in this role, you will bring a strong work ethic, attention to detail & a positive team-focused attitude. 

 

You will ideally possess: 

  • Previous experience working in a hotel, facilities, or similar maintenance environment – highly desirable 
  • A relevant trade qualification or general maintenance experience – essential 
  • Basic IT experience / ability to acquire – essential 
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment 
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks & meet deadlines 
  • A high standard of workmanship & attention to detail 
  • Good communication skills & the ability to interact professionally with guests, contractors & colleagues 
  • Basic understanding of workplace safety practices & maintenance procedures 
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster across Monday to Sunday, with shifts rostered between 7am and 6pm. Occasional work outside ordinary hours may be required.  
  • Full Australian Driver’s Licence – preferred 
  • Full working rights within Australia – essential
