Position Summary

The Café Supervisor plays a key leadership role in the daily operation of the café, supervising front-of-house activities and supporting the Café Manager in delivering outstanding service, team performance, and operational excellence. This role balances people leadership with guest service, quality control, and operational responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

• Supervise daily café operations to ensure service standards are met or exceeded.

• Open and close the venue according to standard procedures and security protocols.

• Ensure compliance with WHS, food safety, and hygiene standards.

• Maintain quality standards for food & beverage presentation and guest experiences.

Team Supervision & Development

• Lead, coach, and mentor front-of-house staff including baristas and servers.

• Support staff training and onboarding to uphold service standards.

• Assist with scheduling and rostering aligned to business needs.

• Provide performance feedback and foster a positive team culture.

Guest Service Excellence

• Act as the primary point of contact for customers and resolve issues professionally.

• Lead by example during peak periods to maintain high service standards.

Stock & Cash Handling

• Support inventory control and assist with stocktakes.

• Ensure accurate POS operation, cash handling, and end-of-shift reconciliation.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

• Exceptional customer service and problem-solving ability.

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

• Attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

• Proficiency in POS systems and basic reporting.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 3+ years experience in hospitality with supervisory exposure preferred.

• Valid RSA and Food Safety certification (or willingness to obtain).
