  • Part-time fixed-term position 0.4 FTE(15 hours per week) | Hybrid working model.
  • Fixed term until June 30th 2027.
  • $56.76 p/h (credentialed) or $49.65 p/h (not credentialed) + 12% Super + NFP Salary Packaging.

YOUR IMPACT

We’re looking for a Diabetes Nurse Educator to deliver high-quality diabetes education programs and information sessions funded through the National Diabetes Services Scheme (NDSS). In this role, you’ll facilitate group education programs across Victoria (including some after-hours and travel), support participants to build confidence in self-management, and contribute your clinical expertise to resource development, webinars, and broader organisational initiatives. You will also have the opportunity to support Diabetes Camps Victoria, helping children and young people living with type 1 diabetes and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver NDSS group education and information sessions.
  • Maintain (or work towards) certification requirements to deliver accredited diabetes education programs and support continuous improvement through participant feedback.
  • Provide diabetes advice internally and support organisational initiatives, including webinars, articles, resources, events, and clinical enquiries.
  • Contribute to media topics as requested and appropriate.
  • Participate in professional development, peer review, and student supervision as required, maintaining CDE requirements.
  • Support Diabetes Camps Victoria as a healthprofessional (ideally one camp per year, or as negotiated).

ABOUT YOU

You are a warm, confident and clinically skilled diabetes nurse educator who enjoys providing education and empowering people through practical, evidence-based support across a range of programs. You’re comfortable presenting to groups, adapting your style for different audiences, and working in a values-led organisation focused on access, equity and community impact.

You enjoy collaborating with peers and colleagues to support the delivery of high quality, effective programs and prioritise your contribution to a positive team culture.

  • Experience delivering education programs or health information sessions to consumers and/or health professionals.
  • Strong group facilitation and presentation skills, with a commitment to health literacy and accessible communication.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a community-first approach.
  • Ability to lead the development of written resources (articles, fact sheets, program materials) and contribute to webinars/events.
  • Strong organisation skills to manage planning, travel, databases and program administration requirements.
  • Understanding of, and sensitivity to, the needs of diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Qualifications and requirements (essential unless noted):

  • Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Credentialled Diabetes Educator (CDE), or working towards credentialing.
  • Current Police Check, and Working with Children Check, or willingness to obtain, prior to commencement, is essential.
  • Current Victorian Driver’s Licence.
  • CPR and First Aid certificates (or willingness to obtain).
  • Accredited DESMOND Educator (desirable).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in diabetes education or clinical care with people living with diabetes (type 1 experience highly regarded).
