  • PURPOSE
  • The role of the Site Supervisor (QLD) will be to:
  • The primary purpose of this position is to supervise employees, workforce and contractors to ensure assigned work within the area conforms to quality, safety and time requirements and stays within planned milestones and budget.
  • SPECIFICATIONS
  • Qualifications and Experience
  • ▪ Trade qualifications, may hold Certificate III in related discipline
  • ▪ Certificate IV or equivalent qualifications
  • ▪ Minimum 6 years’ construction experience
  • ▪ Preferably 2 years’ experience in Rail industry
  • ▪ Preferably hold a Builders License or Site Supervisors Licence
  • ▪ QLD General Construction Induction Training or Construction Industry White Card
  • ▪ Working knowledge of QLD WHS requirements and implementation of same
  • ▪ Ensuring all relevant regulatory requirements are satisfied
  • ▪ Competent in planning and organising work schedules
  • ▪ Principles of supervision, training and performance evaluation

  • ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Site Activities
  • ▪ Monitors and controls subcontractor performance and ensures the quality and standard of workmanship is performed in accordance with the specifications
  • ▪ Ensure management of safe site access and egress routes
  • ▪ Check the ordering of materials
  • ▪ Provide effective oversight of employees
  • ▪ Conduct regular toolbox talks and daily pre start briefings
  • ▪ Complete all relevant reports including the daily site diaries
  • ▪ Determine and direct site establishment progress
  • ▪ Ensure construction complies with specifications, BCA and relevant standards
  • ▪ Flow of subcontractor’s activities and material procurement
  • ▪ Maintain open lines of communication with Head of Construction and Project Manager
  • ▪ Maintain site documentation
  • ▪ Read and decipher information on plans and specification
  • ▪ Setting out construction lines and RLs
  • ▪ Look ahead programs are in place and followed
  • ▪ Interpret building plans, regulations and codes of practice in order to direct the progress of work and monitor compliance with construction documentation
  • ▪ Calculate costs and estimate completion times to prepare tender bids and to deal with contract variations
  • ▪ In consultation with the Project Team, draws up detailed programs for site works and the coordination of building workers, and record variations from design drawings or specifications
  • ▪ Delivers or verifies work activity inductions and SWMS sign offs
  • ▪ Documents risk controls and corrective actions
  • ▪ Monitors hazardous substances use and storage on site
  • ▪ Strive for improved workforce motivation generating higher levels of performance and lead by example
  • ▪ Manage site prestart processes so that all employees are suitably inducted, trained and assessed and certified prior to starting on site
  • ▪ Assess progress and productivity and implement action for improvement
  • ▪ Achieve programme milestones within budget for plant, materials and overtime
  • Work, Health and Safety ( WHS)
  • ▪ Ensures compliance with all relevant WHS policies, procedures and relevant legislative requirements
  • ▪ Ensures compliance with all relevant Rail Safety legislation and completes a relevant Rail Safety Induction

  • ▪ Understand all WHS project plans as they relate to the project
  • ▪ Arrange and attend certified safety training for your role
  • ▪ Carry out ongoing assessments/re-certifications for safety/business critical competencies
  • ▪ Ensure all workers are wearing correct PPE
  • ▪ Demonstrates an understanding of the process of incident prevention and incident reporting
  • ▪ Check that all activities and issues are documented on ‘site diary’
  • ▪ Support the project team to achieve the environmental, sustainability and social procurement targets for each project in line with the Degnan Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability Targets.
