This is a leadership role in CRANK’s new Team Leader model. You’ll balance direct delivery with coach leadership and program oversight. During the transition phase (first 6 months), your scope includes:
- Leading 4–6 coaches (mentoring, standards, support, accountability)
- Directly coaching ~20 participants (“CREW”), mostly 1:1
- Overseeing studio/community health for your program stream (attendance, engagement, escalations, safety, quality)
Your key responsibilities
Program Leadership
- Design and run fun, inclusive weekly events that people want to come back to
- Build event structures that support participation (roles, rules, pacing, opt-in options)
- Create safe community culture (welcoming norms, boundaries, conflict repair)
Coach Leadership
- Onboard, mentor, and uplift coaches delivering events and sessions
- Maintain quality standards in facilitation, session structure, documentation, and safety
- Support coaches managing complex moments and behaviours of concern
CREW Support & Outcomes
- Support onboarding and scheduling (aligned to service agreements)
- Maintain strong engagement through attendance tracking and early follow-up
- Handle escalations when a participant needs support beyond their coach
- Support reporting and outcomes tracking using coaching notes and evidence
- Risk & Incident Follow-Through
- Support incident response, documentation quality, and closeout actions
- Apply proactive planning and “foresight” to keep sessions safe and empowering
What Success Looks Like
In this role, “great” looks like:
- Events feel inclusive, structured, and genuinely fun — with strong return attendance
- Community culture is welcoming and safe (clear boundaries, low conflict, strong repair)
- Coaches feel supported and are growing in confidence and quality
- Attendance issues are identified early and addressed consistently
- Incidents are handled calmly, documented properly, and closed out with learning
You’ll also work toward CRANK’s broader targets:
- Strong engagement and retention (with clear exclusions for out-of-control factors)
- High 1:1 attendance and meaningful participation in group events
- Continuous improvement through fortnightly sprints (small changes that make things better)
Who We’re Looking For
✅ Required (must-have)
- A qualification in one of: Teaching/Education, Youth/Community Services, Social Work, Disability Support, Allied health support, or similar
- Experience working with young people, and ideally neurodivergent participants (autism/ADHD and/or psychosocial disability)
- Strong interest in gaming and/or tabletop communities and inclusive community culture
- Demonstrated leadership experience (formal or informal) — mentoring, coaching, accountability
- Strong group facilitation skills and confidence managing social dynamics
- Working rights in Australia
- Ability to obtain/hold: NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working With Children Check (as required)
⭐ Preferred (highly regarded)
- Experience running youth programs, clubs, tournaments, events, or community groups
- Confidence designing accessible formats (visual structure, optional participation, flexibility)
- Experience with esports-style competition design that supports sportsmanship and regulation
Why You’ll Love Working at CRANK
- You’ll lead a genuinely fun, purpose-driven program where connection matters
- Strong culture, supportive leadership, and a team that values doing things properly
- Space to create, iterate, and build new formats (fortnightly improvement sprints)
- A workplace that takes psychological safety, quality, and inclusion seriously
- You’ll be part of a growing organisation with real opportunities to shape the future
