Summary:

As a Bookkeeper at Coutts Redington, you will play a vital role in supporting our clients’ businesses by ensuring accuracy, clarity, and efficiency in their financial records. You’ll contribute directly to our mission of empowering clients to master today’s decisions and own their future with confidence — providing essential bookkeeping, reporting, and process support that helps both clients and our team thrive.

This is a Full-Time – In Office position

Key Responsibilities:

Bookkeeping & Transactions

  • Maintain accurate accounting records for multiple clients, including bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Record and categorise transactions using Xero.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoice entry and payments.

Payroll & Superannuation

  • Prepare and process payroll in line with relevant awards and legislation.
  • Manage employee entitlements, leave balances, superannuation payments, and Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting.

BAS & Compliance Support

  • Prepare and support the lodgment of BAS, IAS and superannuation compliance documentation in collaboration with senior team members.
  • Ensure clients meet lodgment deadlines and maintain accurate records for audit purposes.

Client Systems Setup & Training

  • Set up new Xero files for clients, including chart of accounts, bank feeds, and user permissions.
  • Provide client training on Xero, tailored to their needs and level of understanding.

Client Communication & Support

  • Act as a key point of contact for client queries relating to day-to-day bookkeeping.
  • Maintain proactive communication to request information, resolve issues, and deliver high client satisfaction.

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with the accounting and advisory teams to ensure consistency and accuracy in client work.
  • Assist in onboarding new clients and transitioning bookkeeping records when required.
  • Share knowledge, contribute to improving internal processes, and support junior team members as needed.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong knowledge of Xero and related add-ons (Xero certification preferred).
  • Practical understanding of payroll processing, GST, superannuation, and BAS/IAS obligations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple client files concurrently.
  • Clear communication skills and a professional client-facing manner.
  • Well-organised with the ability to meet internal and external deadlines.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality work.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping.
  • Previous experience in a bookkeeping role, ideally in a professional services or multi-client environment.
  • Exposure to a range of industries is preferred.
