Cotton Seed Distributors Ltd (CSD) is a leading Australian seed and technology company, enabling growers to produce high‑quality, profitable and sustainable cotton. Established in 1967, our people, growers and industry partners are at the centre of everything we do.

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Leading Hand to join our Supply Chain team at our Shenstone facility in Wee Waa.

About the role

Reporting to the Seed Processing Supervisor, this hands‑on leadership role is responsible for coordinating day‑to‑day seed processing operations on a shift basis while actively participating in processing activities. You will lead, coach and mentor a small team, ensuring production targets are met safely, efficiently and to quality standards.

This role plays a key part in delivering improved seed quality, productivity and operational efficiency, while fostering a strong safety culture where everyone returns home safely every day.

Key responsibilities

Lead, coach and support Seed Processing Technicians and Assistants to drive engagement, performance and safe work practices

Set up, operate, monitor and troubleshoot seed processing plant and control systems

Coordinate and perform seed processing activities, including delinting, bagging, chemical treatment, gin operations and clean‑downs

Monitor product quality and ensure finished products meet required standards

Support routine plant maintenance, reporting faults and assisting with repairs

Mentor seasonal staff and ensure procedures and processes are followed

Promote continuous improvement, teamwork and effective communication across shifts

Ensure compliance with WHS legislation, CSD standards, policies and procedures

About you

You are a practical, safety‑focused leader who enjoys working in a production environment and supporting others to perform at their best. You bring a strong work ethic, attention to detail and the confidence to make decisions and solve problems under pressure.

You will also have:

Demonstrated experience working independently and as part of a team in an operational or manufacturing environment

Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills

A high commitment to safety, quality and continuous improvement

Current Driver’s Licence and Forklift Licence

Willingness to undertake further training and develop your leadership capability

Physical and mental capacity to perform the inherent requirements of the role; and

Be willing to work shift work and weekend across the season.
