Role overview

1. Clinical

  • Provides high quality specialised mental health services for children and adolescents.
  • Conducts mental health assessment (including home and community based), intervention, management planning and evaluation
  • Provides evidence based individual and group treatment interventions for clients with complex problems and their families.
  • Provides guidance to the multidisciplinary team for risk assessment and safety planning, including for disclosures of risk and/or child safety concerns as necessary.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the whole mental health service and therapy programs.
  • Coordinates the mental health caseload, including allocation of referral, service planning and discharges.
  • Manages all mental health referrals through the multidisciplinary intake process and triage system.
  • Analyses client needs to provide individual, group and team interventions and the development of treatment programs using culturally appropriate and evidence-based practice.
  • Implements safe and ethical evidence-based therapies.
  • Engages in multidisciplinary discussions to ensure best practice and quality intervention planning.
  • Functions as a member of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Participates in ongoing evaluation of organisation level and individual clinical practice.

2. Management

  • Contributes to the strategic planning, development and implementation and evaluation of an evidence-based, person-centred mental health service.
  • Provides clinical supervision, facilitates performance management and mentors mental health team.
  • Allocates workload and manages availability of human resources within the mental health team, including line management duties for payroll and staff entitlements.
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures, documentation and evaluation of mental health services.
  • Assists with feedback and complaints management
  • Provides support in incident and risk management in collaboration with the Clinical Services Manager.

3. Administration

  • Maintains own calendar and client database.
  • Maintains client information in accordance with organisational, professional and the National Disability Insurance Scheme requirements.
  • 4. Education/Training
    • Develops, prepares and presents training for staff in relation to mental health interventions.
    • Develops resources and programs for the use of other staff in areas of expertise.
    • Assists with supervision and development of students and colleagues.
    • Engages in continued professional development/education and ensures continued eligibility for membership with the appropriate professional association.
    • Participates in performance planning and performance reviews.

    5. Other

    • Performs duties in accordance with organisational Policies and Procedures.
    • Performs duties in line with the National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 (NDIS Act) and Disability Services Act (1993).
    • Performs duties in line with the organisation’s and National Disability Insurance Scheme’s Codes of Conduct.
    • Performs duties in accordance with relevant Occupational Health and Safety and Equal Opportunity Legislation.
    • Conducts duties in a manner that is ethical and promotes a positive image of Connect Paediatric Therapy Services.
    • Delivers outreach services as required.
