Connect Paediatric Therapy Services is leading the way in the Pilbara in providing high quality allied health services to children with disabilities and their families. Our clinics have expanded in Karratha and Broome and an opportunity for this important role is now available.

The Role:

Based in the Karratha clinic, you will provide evidenced based mental health intervention, within a multidisciplinary team for children and adolescents with mild to moderate mental health presentations. You will also work closely with children who present with dual disability (disability and co-occurring mental health presentations). Under the guidance and support of our Senior Mental Health Clinician, you will work collaboratively with a large range of disciplines (including Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Continence Physiotherapists, Dietitians and Positive Behaviour Support) to provide holistic care for your clients.

You will undertake a variety of assessments and screens including initial assessments with a detailed developmental history, and be provided the opportunity to develop formulations to support intervention planning.

You will work closely with the key stakeholders in a child’s life to educate them to develop individualised strategies to support the child’s mental health in a variety of settings to including the clinic, school and community-based therapy.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to deliver services face to face and via telehealth across the Pilbara, Kimberley and beyond, with exciting opportunities for occasional travel to beautiful locations such as remote Pilbara & Kimberley towns.

About you:

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years’ working with children and youth who experience anxiety and depression, emotional dysregulation and self-harm and be accredited with the appropriate body to provide mental health services through the Better Access Mental Health scheme and have experience. You will have with experience working with children and adolescents with autism, FASD, Intellectual disability and/or developmental delays and thrive working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

You will value the holistic approach to therapeutic intervention, have a passion for building quality relationships with your clients and their families and be comfortable holding difficult conversations.

You will also be:

• Self-motivated and adaptable to the needs of each client, as well as the team.

• Passionate about supporting and empowering families in regional WA.

• Knowledgeable of and committed to family centred practice.

• Able to provide quality written, verbal and interpersonal communication.

• Experienced in working as part of a multidisciplinary team, and independently.

• Excellent in time management and organisation.

Employment Criteria

1. Current membership with AHPRA and other relevant professional body as a Registered Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker

2. Registration with Medicare to provide services under the Better Health initiative

3. Completion of 100-point identification check

4. Current Australian drivers’ licence

5.. Ability to obtain a WA Working with Children Check

6. Ability to obtain NDIS Worker Screening Check
