About the service:
The Aldercourt Child and Family Centre is situated in Frankston North on the site of Aldercourt Primary School. The kindergarten is managed by Community Kinders Plus Inc. and is an Our Place site.
The kindergarten team works in collaboration with and is supported by their Aldercourt Primary School colleagues. The Kindergarten is part of the Our Place initiative, which brings
education, health and community services together to support families; this
means you’ll be part of a connected, wraparound service model designed to improve
outcomes for children and the community.
Our vision is that all children and their families succeed in life. We aim to achieve this vision by
providing impartial professional people with expertise in building relationships and coordinating resources that enable the school to be the central place for learning and support services.
Frankston North is an area experiencing disadvantage (disadvantage or vulnerability), on the fringe of
Melbourne with longstanding socio-economic issues, which have a significant impact on the education and wellbeing outcomes of local children and young people.
In December 2024, Aldercourt Child
and Family Centre was awarded the Excellent Rating by Australian Children’s
Education & Care Quality Authority; it is one of 27 centre based services
in Australia to receive the excellent rating.
Hours of work of the role: 24.75
Hours per week: Monday and Tuesday are 7.30 am to 4.00 pm
Wednesday and Thursday are 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Friday can be performed weekly as 9 am – 11.45 am or fortnightly as 9 am to 2:30 pm.
Description:
We are seeking an experienced Diploma Qualified Educator to join the team at Aldercourt, supporting a 4 year old room. This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced educator who thrives in community settings, is able to build strong relationships and lead with warmth, confidence and professionalism.
You will be required to work alongside the teaching team and other professionals to deliver a high-quality kindergarten program for children aged between 3-5, many of whom have complex
needs. You will need to build, trusting relationships with children, families and the local community, embed trauma-informed practice, culturally sensitive and inclusive practices and work closely with others to contribute to the culture of excellence.
Required knowledge and skills:
Possess a Diploma qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care
Experience working in communities similar to Frankston North, where connection, consistency and trust are essential
Be resilient, reflective and can stay calm and grounded in challenging situations
Excellent communication skills with children, families and colleagues.
Demonstrates knowledge of the VEYLDF, National Quality Framework and evidence-informed, contemporary early years practice.
