ECG is an independent school that provides an alternative pathway towards secondary education for those who want a different learning environment. We help guide students towards their goals and provide them with the skills they need to successfully enter the workforce or pursue further study. But to do this, we need your help!
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Learning Support Officer to join our team, providing educational support to students with diverse learning needs. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting the teaching staff in creating an inclusive learning environment, ensuring that all students have access to the curriculum and educational resources in a customised approach.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Professional relationships are established with students based on trust and respect utilising a “strengths-based” approach.
- Demonstrate a positive and collaborative partnership with teachers in working with students.
- Information regarding student progress and areas of need is communicated to teachers and/or wellbeing staff in a timely manner.
- Complete administrative tasks and documentation utilising the Student Management System (Compass), including Individual Education Plans (IEPs), funding submissions, student attendance and progress, incident or any behavioural or other significant matters in a timely manner.
- Provide individual and/or group support as required, including flexibility in moving between classes, groups and working with wellbeing staff.
- When required, accompany students on excursions, school camps and other out-of-school activities.
- Work with teachers to use effective classroom management strategies that encourage students to take responsibility for their behaviour in line with organisational policies and procedures.
- Contribute to the safety of all students by adhering to the Child Safe Policies, Procedures and Codes of Conduct to ensure all students with CCG are in a safe and inclusive learning environment.
CAPABILITIES
The candidate should demonstrate experience and practical application of the following capabilities within a work setting:
- Learning Support & Classroom Assistance: Support inclusive and differentiated learning under teacher direction for individuals and groups, adapt approaches in response to learning and student needs and promote student independence and persistence.
- Behaviour Support & Wellbeing: Build trusting relationships with students and support regulation using agreed strategies.
- Trauma Informed Practice & Student-Centered Learning: Understand and consistently apply trauma informed practice for learning and behaviour and apply co-regulation and de-escalation strategies.
- Inclusion, Diversity & Disability Support: Promote inclusive practice and support students with disability and neurodiversity, use inclusive language and support reasonable adjustments.
- Communication & Team Collaboration: Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, seek feedback and reflect on practice and maintain confidentiality.
- Professional Conduct & Child Safety: Uphold Victorian Child Safe Standards, maintain appropriate professional boundaries and demonstrate ethical, professional and child-safe behaviours.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
- Certificate III in Education Support or equivalent (or willingness to undertake study)
- Current Working with Children Check
- Clear Police Check
- Level 2 First Aid (desirable)
