Common Equity Housing Ltd (CEHL) provides long-term secure housing to people with low-income backgrounds who may find full market rent unaffordable. We are currently seeking an experienced 

Finance Officer with payroll experience to join our Corporate Finance team.

As Australia’s largest cooperative housing provider, we manage a portfolio of more than 2,000 housing properties through Victoria and partner with over 90 housing co-ops to provide safe, secure and affordable housing to 5,000 co-op members, renters and the broader community. ABOUT THE ROLE

The Finance Officer supports CEHL’s financial integrity by providing accurate and timely financial information and working closely with teams across the organisation to ensure strong financial controls, compliance and effective service delivery. This role will work in team that is responsible for:

  • Complete General Ledger closure procedures and complete ledger entries to ensure accurate accrual-based reporting;
  • Reconciling banks accounts and balance sheets;
  • Accounts payable and receivable;
  • Revenue, debtor and payables management;
  • Taxation compliance and reporting;
  • Financial reporting and stakeholder;
  • Reimbursements to Authorities (eg; water and council rates);
  • Coordinate financial and statutory aspects of property handbacks.

This role also involves includes payroll which involves the coordination of a fortnightly payroll for approximately 80 employees, liaising with an external payroll provider and salary packaging provider; and ensuring the accuracy of each pay.

ABOUT YOU

You will be tertiary qualified and experience in finance, accounting or relevant field. You will be known for your finance officer skill set and be recognised as a ‘go to’ person for the organisation for finance and payroll queries. As a team player with ideally 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar role you will have good communication skills coupled with a strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes through your experience with:

  • Accounts payable and receivable
  • Reconciliations
  • Setting up new suppliers
  • Purchase orders
  • BAS
  • Financial Reporting
  • Payroll including knowledge and understanding of relevant legislations that impact payroll including EBA and Award Interpretations.
