Classic Touch Carpentry are currently looking for 1st and 2nd year Carpentry Apprentices to join our busy team. Mature aged applicants are encouraged to apply.
Classic Touch Carpentry is a carpentry and building business located in Queanbeyan, NSW (bordering Canberra, ACT) who offer residential and commercial carpentry and residential building services across Canberra, ACT and Queanbeyan, NSW.
As a Carpentry Apprentice you will support qualified tradesman on-site while undertaking formal training to become a qualified carpenter. You will be required to assist with a wide range of carpentry tasks and develop safe and efficient work practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist qualified carpenters with day-to-day carpentry tasks
- Learn to use hand and power tools safely and correctly
- Carry, lift and position materials and equipment under supervision
- Keep job sites clean, tidy and well-organised
- Attend and participate in CIT classes
- Follow instructions and work under supervision while building knowledge and skills
- Actively retain and apply skills, knowledge and practices gained through technical training (CIT) and on-site instruction.
- Take initiative to review notes, ask questions and seek clarification where required to ensure learning is understood and applied effectively.
- Assist in measuring, cutting and assembling timber/metal and building materials
- Maintain tools and report any faults or issues promptly
- Participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings
Skills and Qualifications
- Active enrolment in Certificate III in Carpentry through CIT
- Current White Card, Asbestos Awareness and Silica Safety certifications
- Strong communication skills
- Capable of working independently and as part of a wider team
