About the Role
One of the most important positions in our service, the Medical receptionist is the key link between the community and Bullinah’s health services and is vital to the effective operations of Bullinah’s services.
Duties
- Daily reception duties including, but not limited to:
- Receiving and directing phone calls
- Booking appointments
- Maintaining client records
- Scanning documents
- Processing referrals and recalls
- Maintain reception areas and waiting rooms in a tidy and welcoming manner
- Comply with Bullinah Policies and Procedures at all times, particularly in relation to confidentiality of client information
- Assist clinical staff and clients with recalls and follow-up appointments
- Build positive professional relationships with community members, staff, and external organisations
- Participate in staff meetings, mandatory training, and Quality Improvement programs.
- Undertake other reasonable duties as requested by management
Selection Criteria
Essential;
- Aboriginality;
- Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People and a knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture, and of issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People, particularly in relation to health and wellbeing;
- Reliability and punctuality – The ability and commitment to show up on-time and complete work effectively and consistently
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in a polite and caring manner, ideally in a customer service environment
- Demonstrated sound computer skills
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team
- Initiative and willingness to learn – The successful candidate will look for opportunities to learn, grow, and help others
Desirable;
- Knowledge of billing processes and requirements including Medicare and Workover billing
- Microsoft Office efficiency
- Experience in working and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service
- Experience working in a busy workplace
Mandatory Qualifications
1 National Police Check Clearance.
2 Working with Children Check Clearance
3 COVID- 19 – Vaccinations
