Purpose of the Position
The Maintenance Team Leader’s primary role is to manage a small team of maintenance offers and to actively participate in tasks as directed by the Maintenance Manager. The set tasks/jobs will be allocated in support of maintaining current facilities, modifications to new CQID leased or purchased facilities, support the future direction and goals of the organisation and to assist clients as requested by program staff.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Being an active worker/participant in maintenance tasks as directed by the Maintenance Manager
- Ensure that staff have a focus on safety and that safe work practices are always implemented.
- At all times work within CQID’s Workplace Health & Safety Policies and Procedures
- Participate in WH&S training as directed by the General Manager WH&S
- Willingness and drive to teach maintenance officers new skills
- Monitor, maintain and conduct regular stocktakes on all equipment allocated to the maintenance team
- Follow and implement all CQID purchasing and finance policies
- Maintain the vehicle allocated to the team and ensure that the Maintenance Manager is informed of any issues
- Meet with the Maintenance Manager regularly and provide updates on tasks and staff development
- Tasks that the maintenance team will be required to complete include, but are not limited to, mowing/yard maintenance, cleaning of vehicles, building maintenance/modifications, cleaning, office fit outs and repairs. Some of these tasks will be at properties where young people reside.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement agenda across CQID
- Participate and contribute to the organisation’s compliance obligations under the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and Human Services Quality Standards (HSQS)
- Other duties as directed by the Executive Officer/Manager
- Identify and drive opportunities to further support the wellbeing and self-determination of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people through improved or innovative service delivery
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Holds a current C Class Queensland Driver’s Licence
- Current Working with Children Check, ‘Blue Card’
- Holds or is willing to obtain a First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Experience in working in a trade or as a labourer e.g. mowing business, maintenance work
Desirable
- An awareness and understanding of Indigenous communities and cultures and the historical and contemporary issues relevant to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, and proven capacity to communicate appropriately.
