Description

About Us:

At Fitness Passport, we are driven by a clear purpose — to make fitness more accessible, so more people can lead active and healthier lives. Established in 2006, we’re a corporate health and fitness program partnering with the public sector, corporate employers, and leading fitness facilities across Australia and New Zealand, providing members with access to a wide range of gyms and wellness resources.

As we enter an exciting new phase of growth, Fitness Passport is executing an ambitious strategy while keeping our member experience a top priority.

The Role:

We’re looking for a hands-on Senior Data Engineer to help scale our modern data stack and deliver clean, trusted, and timely data to support analytics, reporting, and decision-making across the business.

You’ll work closely with analytics, product, and operational teams to build efficient data products & pipelines, improve data quality, and power insights across the organization. As part of a small and growing data team, you’ll play a key role in scaling our data platform, building robust data assets, develop infrastructure, maintaining data workflows, and enabling reporting and ML/AI use cases across the business.

Join a Platform & AI-first Data Team that’s laying the foundation for scalable analytics and intelligent products across the business. Influence how data and AI are delivered across the organization.

What you will be doing:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and analytics pipelines using Snowflake, dbt, and Fivetran.
  • Develop and optimize data models and tables to support analytics, reporting, and operational use cases.
  • Ingest and consolidate data from multiple sources using Python and API-based methods.
  • Transform raw data into clean, well-documented, and business-ready datasets.
  • Build data products and analytics pipelines that serve both analytics and AI use cases.
  • Contribute to the evolution of our enterprise data architecture, ensuring scalability, interoperability, and alignment with business strategy.
  • Apply best practices for infrastructure as code (Terraform/Pulumi) and cloud platform management.
  • Implement and monitor data quality checks, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and reliability.
  • Enforce security, networking, and compliance best practices across the platform.
  • Support ML pipeline integrations and AI-focused data initiatives.
  • Champion a culture of innovation, experimentation, and continuous improvement across the data platform.

About You:

  • Genuinely curious and passionate about health, wellness, and fitness.
  • 7+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data platform development.
  • Advanced SQL and Python skills, including API development and ingestion frameworks like Airflow, Dagster or Prefect.
  • Proven experience with Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, or similar OLAP and compute platforms.
  • Strong background in cloud platforms (AWS preferred; GCP or Azure also valuable).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) and automated data deployment workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to build secure, reliable, and cost-efficient data architectures.
  • Understanding of data governance, observability, and metadata management tools.
  • Experience designing and deploying infrastructure using Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.
  • Clear, concise communicator — comfortable working across technical and non-technical teams.
