About the role

As a Disability Support Worker, you’ll be an important part of someone’s journey toward independence and social connection.

You’ll mainly work across Newcastle and surrounds, with occasional shifts in the Lake Macquarie and Lower Hunter regions.

This role includes:

Supporting participants in daily routines, community access, and capacity‑building activities
Building practical life skills and supporting friendships and social participation
Assisting with job readiness career planning, workplace skills, and interview preparation
Creating safe, inclusive, and empowering environments where participants feel confident and in control
Working across a mix of 1:1 supports, small groups, and community‑based activities helping individuals connect, grow, and thrive.

What You’ll Bring

We welcome experienced support workers and people new to the industry. You’ll receive hands‑on training and ongoing guidance.

Preferred (but not essential):

Cert III in Community Services, Disability, Youth Work, or similar
Experience supporting people with a disability
Understanding of the NDIS and person‑centred practice
Strong attention to detail and confidence in maintaining accurate documentation
Flexibility to support participants across varied times and settings

Essential:

NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)

Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)

Completion of the ‘Quality, Safety & You’ module from the NDIS Commission.

Valid driver’s licence and reliable private transport

Alignment with Castle’s Vision, Purpose, and Values
