Summary:
Carinya Lodge is a leading provider of Aged Care Services in South Gippsland, providing high quality care and lifestyle for older Australians in our local community. Carinya is a 60 bed facility and manages Independent 50 Independent Living Units as part of our larger site. As part of our commitment to providing a range of lifestyle activities for our residents we are soon to open our own cafe and community hub which will provide all our users and our staff with fresh coffee, food and beverages and a welcoming meeting hub on site.

The cafe will operate four days a week (Tuesday through to Friday) and initially open for 5 hours per day. It will be part of our wider Food Services unit and be supported by our Food Services Team from the main kitchen.
The Role:
We are seeking to bring an experienced Barista/Cafe attendant into the team who will be responsible for providing service to the cafe users for 20 hours per week initially. You will be the face of our new cafe, serving up a great coffee, quality nutritious food made in our fantastic kitchen, and providing residents and other cafe patrons with a warm smile and welcoming customer service.
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing exceptional customer service and creating a welcoming atmosphere for all customers
- Preparing and serving a range of coffee, tea, and other beverages to the highest standards
- Preparing and presenting delicious food items such as sandwiches, salads, and pastries
- Handling cash and card transactions with accuracy and efficiency
- Ensuring the cafe is kept clean, tidy, and well-stocked at all times
- Assisting with other cafe duties as required
About You:
- You are confident and skilled at preparing and making a full range of coffee, tea and other beverages
- You are bright, bubbly and have a real empathy with older customers (maybe you’ve even worked in Aged Care)
- You have good cash handling skills and POS knowledge
- You are passionate about customer service and warm hospitality
- You are able to lean in to all the challenges that will come in an essentially new business venture
- Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning, quality improvement and upholding the mission, vision and values of Carinya Lodge Homes Inc.
You Bring:
- A minimum of 1 years experience working as a Barista and front of house in a busy cafe environment
- A certificate in Safe Food Handling or the willingness to obtain and a good knowledge of food hygiene and safety
- Demonstrated skills/training as a barista
- Flexibility, adaptability and calmness under pressure
- Awesome teamwork and communication skills along with a great sense of fun!
