cape group (cape) is a not-for-profit company providing services to people with disability and is a Registered NDIS Provider.

Formed from the merger of Nadrasca and Brite in April 2025, cape group brings together over 120 years of experience supporting people across Melbourne’s eastern and northern suburbs.

Together, we offer a wide range of services including home and living supports, social and community participation, youth employment assistance, supported employment, and NDIS support coordination.

The Position

As Accounts Payable Officer, you’ll play a key role in supporting our financial operations. You’ll be responsible for a range of administrative and financial tasks including data entry, invoice processing, reconciliations, and assisting with ad hoc finance tasks.

This role requires a keen eye for detail, confidentiality, and a commitment to supporting the organisation’s financial integrity.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Process accounts payable transactions accurately and in a timely manner
  • Reconciliation of supplier statements
  • Maintain register of approved suppliers
  • Process company credit transactions monthly in a timely manner
  • Process scheduled payments to business units
  • Ensure that Delegations of Authority and Management Delegations are maintained
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and petty cash management
  • Process accounts receivable as directed
  • Respond to internal and external queries regarding accounts payable
  • As required, assist with month-end reporting and financial audits
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to organisational policies and procedures
  • Foster an environment of trust and teamwork that aligns with cape group’s values
  • Work collaboratively with organisation managers and peers towards achieving organizational effectiveness and operational efficiency
  • Other duties as required from time to time

Qualifications and Experience

  • Certificate IV in Accounting or similar
  • Experience working in the disability, community services or not-for-profit environment (desirable)

Skills and Attributes

  • Demonstrated experience in accounts administration or a similar role
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial processes
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Business Central, MYOB, Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • High level of efficiency, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Logical and systematic approach to work
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Employment Requirements

  • All applicants must hold a current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance and obtain a Working with Children Check prior to employment
  • International Police Check may be required if applicable
  • All relevant staff must provide evidence of unrestricted Australian residential and working visa
