At our renowned Riverina Cancer Care Centre in Wagga Wagga, we are seeking a dedicated full-time Oncology Pharmacist to join our team and support the delivery of high-quality cancer care to the local community.
Reporting to the Head of Pharmacy, the successful candidate will be appointed as a Grade 1 or Grade 2 Oncology Pharmacist, depending on experience. The role is full-time, working Monday to Friday with rotating shifts of 7:30am to 4:30pm and 8:00am to 5:00pm, with one RDO per fortnight.
What is involved
In this role you will:
- Clinically review patients and their Oncology treatment protocols
- Dispense cytotoxic and non-cytotoxic medications in accordance with PBS regulations
- Complete medication reconciliation processes
- Provide medication education and counselling to patients and their families
- Support coordination of clinical trials and compassionate access programs
- Participate in clinical research activities and oncology antimicrobial stewardship (AMS) programs
- Attend Site Selection Visits (SSVs) and Site Initiation Visits (SIVs)
- Review and adhere to clinical trial protocols relating to investigational products, compounding and accountability
- Contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives
- Work closely with oncologists and the broader multidisciplinary team
- Assist with pharmacy stock control and inventory management
- Read, understand, review, and adhere to clinical trial protocols relating to investigational product (IP) compounding (where applicable), IP accountability, standard operating procedures, and reporting of the Pharmacy’s role in clinical trials
What you will bring:
- Bachelor of Pharmacy or higher qualification
- Current registration as a Pharmacist with AHPRA and the Pharmacy Board of Australia
- Professional indemnity insurance
- A strong patient-first mindset and commitment to quality care
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- High attention to detail and strong problem solving capability
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary clinical environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly enthusiastic, motivated, and quick to adapt in a supportive environment
- Oncology/hospital Pharmacy experience is highly regarded but not essential
