Description

An exciting part-time opportunity (4 days pw) has become available in our Brand and Reputation team. This role plays an essential role in driving the strategic position of BESydney with media, Government and industry stakeholders and is critical to building BESydney’s external reputation.

What this role involves:

  • Develop and implement the external affairs strategy, which includes communications, stakeholders and government plans
  • Enhance BESydney’s corporate profile and reputation in the international, NSW and national communities
  • Ensures BESydney has a strong media and digital presence
  • Respond to media, government and industry enquiries
  • Maintain strong relationships with journalists, social media creators, government and other stakeholders
  • Develop and deliver a clear and consistent external affairs narrative to be used across appropriate channels
  • Identifying the best channels and markets to deliver BESydney messaging
  • Produce and deliver quality content, information and insights to be shared with the broader BESydney team using effective systems, processes, tools, resources.
  • Shift the organisation’s profile beyond traditional tourism trade media to industry, academic and mainstream media.
  • Identify and seize business opportunities that may bring significant economic benefits.
  • Lead and develop a high performing team

More about you:

On day one, we expect you to have:

  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent 10+ years’ experience in communications, journalism, business or associated discipline.
  • Experience in public relations and communications, including the development, implementation and evaluation of external affairs and media strategies.
  • A strong media, communications and government network.
  • Experience in advocacy, stakeholder management and/or campaigning.
  • Ability to make executive-level decisions within a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in cross-functional teams and an ability to influence peers
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration and time management skills.
  • Good judgement, and cultural awareness and sensitivities to work with communities from non-English speaking backgrounds.
