Bookkeeper & Finance Innovator

3–4 days per week | 6‑month contract (opportunity for permanent)

About the role

We are seeking a proactive and detail‑oriented Bookkeeper & Finance Innovator to join our finance team on a 3–4 day per week basis for an initial 6‑month contract, with the potential to transition to a permanent role.

This role will suit someone who enjoys hands‑on bookkeeping and payroll, but who is also curious about how finance processes can be improved, streamlined and automated. You will work closely with the Financial Controller to ensure day‑to‑day finance operations run smoothly, while also actively contributing ideas and investigating, designing and implementing improvements to the way we work.

Key responsibilities

Core bookkeeping & payroll duties

Reporting to the Financial Controller, your responsibilities will include:

Assisting with the daily processing of accounts, including: Accounts Receivable Accounts Payable Bank Reconciliations Billing and invoicing Processing end‑to‑end payroll, including reconciliations and reporting Maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date financial records Assisting with month‑end tasks and reconciliations Responding to finance‑related queries from internal stakeholders

Finance innovation & process improvement

In addition to core bookkeeping, you will also:

Proactively identify opportunities to streamline, automate or improve finance processes Assist with designing and implementing improvements to reduce manual work and increase accuracy including by way of the use of AI and other technology Work with the Financial Controller to document and refine finance workflows Leverage current system functionality and emerging tools to improve efficiency in areas such as: Invoice processing Reconciliations Reporting Payroll administration Bring a continuous improvement mindset, proactively contributing ideas and creating more efficient and effective solutions rather than just “doing things the way they’ve always been done”

Systems & tools experience

Experience using the following systems will be highly regarded: Practice Evolve, AI, Employment Hero

About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Proven experience in a bookkeeping or finance support role, including payroll

Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable and reconciliations Experience processing payroll with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality Confidence using finance systems and adapting to new tools A natural interest in improving processes and working more efficiently Strong attention to detail, organisation and time management skills The ability to work collaboratively with the Financial Controller and broader team Skills in adopting and engaging with technology including AI

Formal accounting qualifications are welcomed but not essential — practical experience and the right mindset are key.
