The Role
We are seeking an accomplished and creative Mid-Level or Senior Interior Designer to join our Sydney studio in a permanent role. You will work closely with Senior Leaders, Designers, and Project Leaders across a diverse portfolio including hospitality, clubs,retail, residential, and hotels.
Our Interior Design team operates as an integral part of Buchan, contributing to large-scale
architectural and interior commissions, as well as delivering stand-alone interior projects. You will be involved across all project stages—from concept design through to construction and contract administration.
This role suits a designer with a strong foundation who is continuing to grow their expertise in
design leadership, project delivery, and client engagement.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Interior or Industrial Design, or Associate Diploma in Interior Design and Decoration
- 5–10 years’ experience, ideally on large-scale, complex projects
- Proven experience across commercial sectors such as clubs, retail, hospitality, high-rise residential, or mixed-use developments
- Strong conceptual design ability and the capability to carry ideas through to delivery
- Confident and articulate presentation skills
- Solid understanding of detailing and high-quality documentation practices
- Proficiency in Revit/BIM and Enscape (essential), with working knowledge of CAD, SketchUp, and V-Ray , must be hands on.
- Good sketching skills an advantage
- Strong design and documentation capability with a focus on quality outcomes
- Sound knowledge of project coordination and documentation processes
- Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to work collaboratively and lead project teams when required
