Use your strong communication and planning skills to support young people to access housing, legal, physical and mental health services, education, employment, and meaningful connection with their community.

This position provides an essential early intervention response to young people aged 12-21 who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, disconnection from family, education/employment, and/or their community. Providing individualised, person-centred, goal-directed practical support to young people with medium and high needs.

You’ll be a great candidate for this role if you:

  • Have a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Social Sciences, or comparable qualification OR substantial demonstrated experience in a related field.
  • Have a current Queensland driver’s license and ability to travel for home visits, outreach and appointments, supporting young people to access services and maintain engagement with housing, health and community supports.
  • Can demonstrate experience working with young people and strong understanding of the complex issues affecting young families experiencing or at risk of homelessness, including family conflict, housing instability and disconnection.
  • Have strong communication skills, including clear written documentation, professional interpersonal skills and the ability to advocate effectively for young people with services, agencies and community providers.
  • Can demonstrate well-developed organisational and planning skills, with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and maintain accurate case notes and client records.
  • Have proven ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders, including government and community organisations, to improve access to services for young people.

Given the work that we do there will be a few non-negotiables. You’ll need to be able to have, or obtain prior to commencement:

  • A Working with Children Suitability Card [Blue Card].
  • A National Coordinated Criminal History Check [Police Check].
  • Evidence of vaccination, immunity, or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases – Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella [Chicken Pox], and Pertussis [Whooping Cough].
