This full-time position of Senior Youth Worker supports our mission by assisting in the delivery of planned support and the effective operations of a 24/7 Housing-First aligned, transitional supported accommodation model for young people aged 16-25.

You’ll be a great candidate for this role if you have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Social Sciences, or comparable qualification OR substantial demonstrated experience in a related field.
  • Experience working within a temporary-supported housing framework based on Housing First principles.
  • The ability to complete intake and assessments, including risk-assessments and respond with appropriate interventions.
  • Experience providing culturally safe, trauma-informed assessments, brief-intervention, case-coordination and planned support grounded in principles of recovery, restorative justice and harm-minimisation.
  • Experience assisting young people with appropriate engagement, supervision, emotional support, social and living skills development, recreational opportunities, conflict resolution and goal setting.
  • The ability to positively contribute to a culture of creativity, resilience and de-escalation and respond effectively to emotional dysregulation and challenging behaviours.
  • Strong communication skills, including interpersonal skills and writing skills and the ability to advocate effectively on behalf of others.

Given the work that we do there will be a few non-negotiables. You’ll need to be able to have, or obtain prior to commencement:

  • Working with Children Suitability Card [Blue Card].
  • National Police Check clearance.
  • Evidence of vaccination, immunity, or medical exemption for the following preventable diseases – Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella [Chicken Pox]; Pertussis [Whooping Cough].
