About the opportunity

As Australia’s newest uranium producer, we’re growing and looking for a Civil Operator to join our team at the Honeymoon mine site in South Australia.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the roads surrounding the mine site and ensuring they are in good condition for safe and efficient travel. You are also responsible for helping and supporting both electrical and mechanical tradespeople and assisting with the safe and compliant maintenance of worksites and equipment on site.

Working on a small site, you’ll need excellent communication skills and the ability to develop positive relationships across our teams and with external stakeholders.

The role will be FIFO from the Adelaide charter terminal or Port Augusta, direct to site on an 8:6 roster. We will also consider DIDO from Broken Hill.

In terms of specific responsibilities, you will:

  • Maintain the roads around the mine site to ensure safe and efficient travel for personnel, equipment, and materials
  • Operate road maintenance equipment, such as graders, water trucks, and rollers
  • Inspect roads and identify areas that require repair or maintenance  Repair and maintain road surfaces, including filling potholes, grading, and compacting
  • Install and maintain road signs and other traffic control devices
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Superintendent to schedule road closures or detours when necessary 
  • Collaborate with Vehicle Maintenance Fitter to ensure road maintenance equipment is in good working condition
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and policies  
  • Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Maintain waste management pits, by close out and developing new.     
  • Maintain wellfield bund wall around each field, including entry and egress  
  • Provide routine maintenance to the air strip and hard stands
  • Have an active role in site weed and vegetation management.

About You

What you’ll need:

  • Current Australian Drivers Licence
  • Ticketed operator – Grader, Water Cart, Roller, HR Licence, backhoe
  • Experience in road maintenance, preferably in a remote environment including traffic management procedures
  • Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques and equipment
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and troubleshoot road maintenance issues
  •  Ability to work independently in a remote and challenging environment
  • Knowledge of, and ability to apply safe work practices
  • The ability to pass a pre-employment medical and national police check

Highly desirable, but not essential;

  • Forklift ticket
  • Telehandler ticket
  • Current RII for Dogman & licence to perform Dogging
  • High risk work licence / current C6 for up to 60 tonne mobile cranes & Franna Crane
