This role is a 12 month fixed term maternity relief position.
About the Role:
The Senior Practitioner – Child & Young People is responsible for leading and supporting casework practice for Aboriginal children and young people placed in the care of Biripi’s children service. The Senior Practitioner – Child and Young People will provide supervision and expert advice to caseworkers to ensure quality assurance, compliance and service delivery standards.
The key objectives of the role include:
- Provide case consultation, supervision and mentoring.
- Review and endorse case plans, risk assessments and statutory reports.
- Coordinate responses to complex cases, placement crises or legal escalations.
- Lead reflective practice and training activities.
- Support cultural connection planning and community engagement
- Maintain, improve and provide advice on key policies and procedures relating to young people and family in the PSP business space.
- Maintain an information library on business critical compliance tasks for the carers and casework team.
- Maintain and implement robust audit schedules and report to Operations Manager and Principal Officer key findings as required.
- Support Casework team with compliance related tasks on key government portals
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in OOHC or child protection
- Demonstrated leadership in Aboriginal service settings
- Experience working with Aboriginal children, young people, families or communities.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal communities, families and children
- Demonstrated verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated report-writing skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required and to be on call.
- Demonstrated ability to work flexibly within tight time schedules and in accordance with variable workload demands.
- High level of computer literacy including a sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software and ability to use Biripi’s CYP information management applications and systems.
- Ability to hold all relevant security clearances including National Police Check and Working with Children clearance.
- Current valid Driver’s licence
